Why consume organic products?

In 2020, one in two French people said they used organic cosmetics, compared to one in three in 2016. The French are therefore gradually becoming fans of organic products for personal care. But why is using organic products beneficial in so many ways?

Protecting the environment

Pesticides affect all organisms and the environments in which they live. In the European Union, 24.5% of vulnerable or endangered species are threatened by agricultural effluents (including pesticides and fertilisers), particularly bees, dragonflies, amphibians, etc.

However, natural ecosystems are complex: the scarcity of a particular species can cause imbalances that jeopardise the services that nature provides free of charge.

Consuming organic products also helps protect soil and groundwater. Organic farming does not pollute with pesticides, fungicides and other synthetic fertilisers. It uses less water and boosts soil fertility without resorting to chemicals. Organic farming, which does not use synthetic plant protection products and, through its practices, has less impact in terms of nitrate pollution, is a major and sustainable solution for preserving water resources.

The use of organic cosmetics guarantees that there are no pesticides or chemical fertilisers in the ingredients sourced from organic farming. Made from natural, raw and unprocessed substances, organic beauty products are less energy-intensive. In addition, the packaging of organic products is generally less polluting and, in most cases, recyclable.

To take it even further, organic products are even better when they are local... but be careful, because a product may be organic, but if it is manufactured on the other side of the world, its carbon footprint will be impacted. TOOFRUIT products are certified organic and manufactured in France!

Consuming effective products

Organic labels or certifications impose a limited list of authorised ingredients. These can be replaced by ingredients such as coconut oil or shea butter, which are known for their nourishing and softening properties. Organic skin cleansing products, for example, are less harsh on the skin than conventional products.

As with "conventional" products, organic products can be tested in laboratories or with volunteers to prove their effectiveness. This is the case for TOOFRUIT, which conducted a study in collaboration with Professor Humbert of Besançon University Hospital. This study showed that children's skin does not secrete sebum and is therefore 10 times drier than that of adults.

To overcome this problem, again in collaboration with Besançon University Hospital, we have succeeded in creating a unique, 100% natural complex, Filmo-Protect Complex, which mimics the composition of sebum.

This complex of raspberry, olive and coconut keeps skin hydrated and protected from dryness. Results: +28% hydration and +62% nutrition measured on 60 children aged 7 to 12 after 7 days of applying Crème Gourmande face cream, which contains the Filmo-Protect Complex. It is part of the composition of 10 TOOFRUIT products.

Adopt sensory products with pleasant textures

The stereotypes of organic products being odourless or smelling bad are long gone. Manufacturers are developing pleasant natural textures and scents that are different from the natural fragrances used in "conventional" cosmetics. Only the active ingredient in its natural state is preserved, without adding any additional scent.

TOOFRUIT selects the finest fruit extracts to give its range of hygiene and skincare products a delicious fruity scent. This makes bath time a truly enjoyable experience for children. For example, our Sensibulle shower gels leave a sweet scent on the skin, as do our deodorants, which keep children's sensitive underarms smelling fresh all day long.
